Andrea Bocelli and son Matteo perform stunning ‘Fall On Me’ duet from home
In challenging times, this stunning duet from the Bocellis is exactly what we need.
Earlier this week, world-renowned tenor Andrea Bocelli and his son, Matteo, delivered a heartfelt performance of Fall On Me from their home in Italy, offering a moment of comfort amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The father-son duo appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden to raise awareness for the Andrea Bocelli Foundation—a humanitarian charity dedicated to supporting communities facing poverty, illiteracy, and hardships caused by illness and social exclusion.
In the video (watch below), Andrea shares: “Right now, it’s a complicated time for my Foundation because, as you know, the situation in Italy is difficult. Everyone is working tirelessly to help.”
Matteo adds: “We’re focusing on the positives—spending time with family, which is rare for us since we’re always traveling. We know many people are struggling, so we feel very fortunate.”
He continues: “We’re honored to share Fall On Me, a duet we recorded—thanks to my dad, of course—and we hope it brings comfort to all of you.”
Taking their places at the piano, the father and son launch into a stirring rendition of the ballad, originally released as a single in 2018 and featured on Andrea Bocelli’s chart-topping album, Sì.
With lyrics crafted by American singer-songwriters Ian Axel and Chad King of A Great Big World, the song quickly resonated with fans, peaking at No. 97 on the Canadian Hot 100. It later gained further recognition when covered by pop icon Christina Aguilera.
Now, multi-award-winning Andrea adds a soaring descant to the familiar melody as Matteo passionately delivers the heartfelt lyrics:
“Fly like a cannonball, straight to my soul, tear me to pieces and make me feel whole, I’m willing to fight for it and carry this weight.”
Captivating listeners with their unmistakable harmonies, they continue:
“Fall on me with open arms, fall on me from where you are, fall on me with all your light.”
